- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup salt
- 4 Tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 Tbsp coarse black pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp cumin
- 1/2 Tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tbps garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- Combine all ingredients together in a bowl. Adjust amounts to suit your own taste.
- For a sweeter rub: Use more brown sugar, cane sugar or turbinado
- For a more savory rub: Use salt, onion powder garlic powder, dry mustard, chili powder, cumin, paprika, celery salt
- For a spicier rub: Use cayenne pepper, red chili flakes, dried chipotle. Add in small amounts until desired spice/heat level is achieved.
- Transfer to an airtight serving container (like a mason jar or other dry rub container).
- Rub will keep for up to 1 year if sealed tight and kept in a cool place.
